Who knew an ordinary hike with two dogs would turn into a business? Pose Pets founders and father-son duo, David and Nathan Maleh, certainly didn’t. But in early 2023, that’s exactly what happened.
When Nathan’s brother-in-law, Elliot, took his two Maltese pups, Benji and Biscuit, for a hike with Benji sporting his homemade, pet sunglasses—the response was overwhelming. Initially just wanting something fun, yet protective for Benji’s eyes, the always hands-on and crafty Elliot used a 3D printer in his garage to create the very first pair. And it wasn’t just for hikes—Benji would wear them while taking rides in Elliot’s sidecar, on his electric longboard, or while sticking his head out of the car window, fluffy ears flapping in the wind. Time and time again, the response was the same—”Where can I get my dog a pair of those?” That’s when David and Nathan got to work.
What looks like a simple pair of sunglasses on the outside is so much more. Refined by engineers and industrial designers, Elliot’s original homemade model has transformed into a sleek, dynamic product designed to perfectly fit your dog’s features. Pose Pets glasses are UV protective, adjustable on all sides with an invisible chin strap, and prevent nasty debris from getting in your pup’s eyes when taking part in especially dirty activities—which we all know they love. The lenses are detachable to keep them safe and sound, and they’re easily stored as they fold up like any regular pair of sunglasses. Even better, they come in different colors and styles to customize to your dog’s unique flair (because, duh, every dog has one).
Beyond the signature sunglasses, Pose has some fun new products in the works, including personalized charm collars and more. But beyond the products themselves, David and Nathan are working to build a lifestyle.
